About Five Up

Five Up is a registered not-for-profit organisation created to support families after a rider doesn’t make it home.

We know the riding community is more than just bikes. It’s mateship, freedom, family, and connection. But when a rider is lost, the impact reaches far beyond the road.

There is shock, there is immense grief, and then there are calls to make, decisions to face, and families trying to hold everything together while their world has changed completely.

Five Up exists to help carry some of that weight.

We offer practical, emotional, and community-based support to families affected by fatal motorcycle accidents, helping ease some of the pressure during one of the hardest times of their lives.

We can’t take away the loss, but we can show up.
And we can make sure families know they are not alone.

Our Story

Five Up grew from the riding community, and from the people behind Throttle Society.

On the 5th of October 2024, the loss of a young rider deeply affected those around him. For many of us, it was the first time we had experienced that kind of grief so close to home.

Out of that loss, Throttle Society was created as a way to bring riders together, build connection, raise awareness, and turn heartbreak into something with purpose.

But over time, it became clear that the need was bigger than connection alone.

Through our own experiences of losing people in the riding community, and through conversations with families, friends, and riders who had carried similar grief, we began to see the same gap again and again.

When a rider doesn’t make it home, families are often left trying to navigate the shock, grief, decisions, pressure, and everything that comes next, without knowing where to turn.

We looked for support created specifically for fallen riders’ families, but we couldn’t find anything that truly filled that space.

So, we decided to create it.

Five Up is now a registered not-for-profit organisation created to support the families of fallen riders - offering practical help, emotional support, and community care during some of the hardest moments of their lives.

This charity comes from lived experience, community, and the belief that families should never feel forgotten after a rider is lost.

Our Mission

Five Up exists to support families after the loss of a rider.

Our mission is to help ease some of the pressure that can follow a fatal motorcycle accident, the shock, the grief, the practical demands, and the moments families are never prepared for.

We offer practical, emotional, and community-based support when it’s needed most. Whether that means helping with everyday tasks, connecting families with services, offering guidance, or providing financial assistance where possible, our goal is to help families feel supported through what comes next.

As Five Up grows, we hope to provide greater financial relief for families, including support toward funeral costs and other urgent expenses that can arise after the loss of a rider.

Our mission is simple:

  • To show up.

  • To ease the weight where we can.

  • And to make sure no family feels like they have to face it alone.
